BIOMAE, BIOMONITORING EUROPEAN RIVERS

Created in 2014, the French company BIOMAE, is an innovative migration of the Irstea Ecotoxicology Laboratory. On January 1st 2020, Irstea merged with INRA and became INRAE which is de facto the largest French public research center in the environment field. Thanks to its cutting-edge innovation and the dynamic of its teams, BIOMAE has been awarded the GreenTech label by the French Ministry of Ecological Transition.

BIOMAE’s primary mission is to develop, support and propose BIOESSAIS (biotrials) to the different water stakeholders, focusing on qualitative chemical and ecotoxicological biomonitoring of French and European rivers. BIOMAE has the technological capacity to track, to analyze the hundreds of micropollutants that can be present in water and to assess the ability of these micropollutants to have an ecotoxic effect on life, known as the cocktail effect. BIOMAE is the recipient of numerous awards and awards in the field of biomonitoring. BIOMAE has signed multiple contracts with groups such as EDF, SANOFI, etc. It also pilots the development of a French bio-monitoring sector under the aegis of the French Government and thanks to its success and recognized expertise, it now exports its know-how to Luxembourg, Poland, Bulgaria etc…
